It's true...Ireland is home to many legends, both true and a wee bit short of the truth. Many stories told around the hearth of a pub or in hushed whispers at night begin with "Legend has it...".

The story of Fíor Uisce (pronounced feer-ishka) isn't really a legend at all, that is, if you believe in everything pure and consider the possibility that there is a pot of gold at the end of that rainbow. You can see it for yourself, the pure bubbling waters of the Fíor Uisce source, set in the stunningly wild country of County Mayo. This is no ordinary water - this is a water which comes to the surface filtered through ancient rocks formed over 500 million years ago. The water coaxes the minerals from the rock to provide all of us with a unique and healthy mineral water with a refreshing taste.

It's no coincidence that Fíor Uisce hails from Tourmakeady in County Mayo. Tourmakeady is a small Irish village set in the Partry Mountains of County Mayo in the Province of Connacht. It is an area that maintains a traditional lifestyle and is within the Gaeltacht of South Mayo. This means that the traditional Irish language (Gaelic) is still spoken. It also means that those that bring Fíor Uisce to you have an appreciation of natural, healthy products that they provide for their own family - and to yours.

But enough of this - we have legend to speak of.

Legend has it that the little people (the Sidheogai) of the region are very well known in Tourmakeady, and have been for generations. Tour around the countryside and you'll see many lakes and villages named after them. The little people are descendants of an ancient race that inhabited Ireland long ago, and knew how to wield a sword when needed. Having won victory over the Celts, the Sidheogai made peace with with newcomers and retreated to the wilds to live in their own magical world - bestowing all that is good and pure upon the verdant green land. To this day, people will go to great lengths to deny the existence of the Sidheogai. People whose lives have become dulled in the modern world only want to accept the solid and tangible. But here in Tourmakeady, we live close to nature and hold our local legends even closer to our hearts.

We are reminded of our rich and pure heritage every time we drink from Fíor Uisce - we know you will too. Whether it is to quench your thirst after a hard day in the fields or concrete jungle, or to provide the authentic Irish mixer to your favorite Irish whiskey, you can choose no better than Fíor Uisce.
